One night while camping along the Delaware Water Gap, I woke to a scream so raw it felt human. In the next breath I understood it was one animal attacking another—pure survival unfolding in the dark. Mortality is an immutable fact but so is the overwhelming desire to live. The sound stayed with me, circling thoughts of fear, vulnerability, and the instinct to endure. I imagine this happening in the deep forest and my back yard. Such themes run through this Allegory Tranche. Each image is a digital composite built from my library of skies, plants, wildlife, and textures, then painted and shaped in Photoshop. Some pieces merge only a few elements; others weave together hundreds. I often use the same elements in different compositions. Many of them reach back to that moment in the woods, where the boundary between danger and beauty felt impossibly thin.

Serendipity also made these images possible, but I tell you serendipity is not luck - I don't believe in luck - it is what happens when a prepared mind finds that moment it didn't know it was looking for but when I see it I stand prepared to act on it.
